Empowering Young Readers

Strong literacy skills open doors and equate to opportunities. Nearly two decades in an elementary setting made a few points very clear to me:

  • Years 0-5 matter A LOT. The sooner infants are immersed in literacy (listening, babbling, baby books, etc.), the better.

  • Nursery rhymes and repetitive early books serve a purpose. (See Ehri's work below)

  • Limited screen time correlates to well-adapted learning. Read more

  • Systematic instruction is imperative to student success.
